Thanksgiving Celebration

Thanksgiving ideas for Assisted Living Facilities can include both the well-known traditions as well as some new activities to mark the occasion. While many residents will go home with family for the holiday, others will want something to take their minds off family and friends that may not be around. Many homes even offer activities that include the residents’ families in the celebration.

To celebrate in the traditional way, you can have a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and of course pumpkin pie, you can hang up fun fall decorations, and maybe you can even have a play of the pilgrims and the Indians. Some unique Thanksgiving ideas would be roasting pumpkin seeds and using the rest of the pumpkin to make homemade pie and host an “I’m thankful” party to celebrate. It does not matter if you use tried and true traditions or unique activities, the residents will be thankful for anything.
