“Take me out to the ball game…” Every time I hear these lyrics, I can’t help but smile. My family & I love going to the local parks to support our amateur baseball team. Baseball season is approaching fast and many senior citizens remember going to the ball game and having a hot dog with their friends and family. This was a tradition that many people are sad that they had to give up. If you can’t take them to the ball game, why not take the ball game to them?
Set a specific day and time each week or each couple of weeks to do this. Next you will need to make sure you have a television that everyone will be able to see. The most important part is the food; you can have hot dogs, soft pretzels with mustard, or pop corn or healthy versions depending on the residents’ diets. All that’s left is seeing your residents in their favorite baseball team hat and seeing them cheer and be merry.
